There are so many places you can visit in the Nabire region! This is a great region for bird watching, snorkeling and diving.
One of the highlights of Nabire is its proximity to Cendrawasih Bay National Park. This area has always been famous for its amazing whale sharks (Rhincondon Typhus). At 9-12 meters long, and weighing up to 12,500kg, the whale shark is one of the largest fish in the world. Imagine swimming with a whale shark!
The map below shows how we can reach the area of Cendrawasih Bay National Park from Nabire. You will find Cendrawashi Bay National Park between Teluk Wondama Regent and Nabire Regent. We will catch a boat from Nabire in the early morning at 06:30 AM, in order to arrive at the area of Bagan at around 9AM. At Bagan are floating fishing platforms that are perfect for observing whale sharks. Local fishermen regularly feed the whale sharks small fish from this platform, and so the whale sharks like to hang out near there. We can spend a good hour viewing the whale sharks, and you can snorkel with them.
In addition to whale sharks, many other animals call Cendrawasih Bay home. Turtle species found here include the Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), the common Green turtle (Chelonia mydas), the Pacific Ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivace), and the Leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea). Here are also found dugongs, coconut crabs, and dolphins. A visit to this area provides a great opportunity to observe a variety of marine life.
We can also venture out to Mioswaar Island, where you will find a natural cave with ancient remains, thermal springs and waterfalls. And if we travel to Muangguar Bay, you can explore an underwater cave 100 feet deep. This area is great for those who love adventure and natural wonders. Book your adventure today!
